So 5 of us at the Greenhaus are "Living Below the Line" this week - living on $2.25 per day to raise awareness about extreme poverty and how one sixth of the world's people live. It's also a fundraiser for a number of charities that we are raising money for, including Save the Children, P3, Partners Relief and Development and the Fred Hollows Foundation.
We figured by doing it together and pulling our money we would be able to have a little bit more food to eat and find solidarity with each other as well as with the poor. So we had $56.25 to spend at the supermarket and market and we started this morning with some porridge, brown sugar and raisins (some pics of Fi and I with our breakfast this morning below). We have planned out all the rest of our meals and treats for the week. It really is amazing how you can live on so little, not necessarily well or healthily but it is definitely possible!
As I am sitting here blogging, I just had my snack for the day - a wonderful granny smith apple:) However, it has not quite dealt to desire for coffee which I think I will miss most this week!
